Your mother is dead
I was told.
she was too young, 33
she wasn't old.
Upon entering the home
where we both lived...
filled with people whose
faces were void of features.
Grandmother's trembling arms
reached for me
as I numbly ran to her
and collapsed into darkness.
mourners dug deep in my heart
torn to piece
torn apart.
I climbed the squeaking
wooden stairs to our room...
my mother's and I...
a distinct odor filled my senses.
The stale smell of death...
How could it be?
she did not die here
she died there
|in the dark, lonely
hospital room.
Screams resounded...
the sounds of rushing footsteps
up the staircase.
I cried.
She died here
not there.
Exile from this place
was my request
Escorted out at lightening speed...
it seemed as though I was
gone for eons.
Upon my return
they welcomed a guest.
Only a guest.
We both died here.
Your body....
My spirit.

Wow! This is such a strong penetrating write, one that comes from the inner core of the soul. A soul separated from her mother. Powerfully good....

Be safe,

You express with an emotion of deep loss and though this is a sad poem it does reflect an atmosphere of two souls so close that one effects the other within any event of life...

nice work...

Hard to read. Hard. Love.

Beautifully expressed, but oh so sad to lose a loved one at such an early age. Blessings upon you.
