This is an excerpt from my book "Rhapsody In Onyx" currently available at

your words have been lingering
among this mass hysteria called my mind
wearing white chiffon dresses
with bouquets of silk patience in their grasp
dusting off my laughter

it seems they have unified for my rest and
have been doing some sort of hoodoo dance
around pictures I’ve erased from my past

they have forged my hands together
and I, a captive “one man” audience,
listen to the chanting chamomile chorus
crawling through the chambers of
my mental abode

their echoes throw themselves against the walls
now I have parables as art…
abstractions I live by…
scripture on the insides of my mouth…
when I speak of solace
Citrine hued doves with snapshots of you
tattooed on their wings are born

I stare with my mouth agape
as wings interrupt the sun’s expanse/
before it steals my sight
to see tomorrow/to look beyond the
back of the moon

and I /
live through your touch…
an oasis that keeps my
palette wet.
