Today I'll Eat My Haikus

Excerpt from "Rhapsody In Onyx"

voices have left us
our tongues are on hiatus
silence guides our thoughts

and sometimes I hate haikus
I want to devour and regurgitate them
into something more than 15 syllables,
15 fragmented parables when
pasted together create a psalm about you….

Your body is God
the soul of the Trinity
divine in your skin

containing truth but it leaves my fingers
wanting/to write more/ 5-7-5
seems to cheat me at times

like playing the lottery with
1,500,000 to

(1)

odds
but then again…

my fingers start to ache
wandering upon your skin
begging to feel more

I think I’ll eats my haikus today
with a Merlot to wash them down.
