When The Anger Does Subside

Looking in the mirror
How colours fade in time
Reaching for the yesterdays
The ways that you were mine

Regretting our misfortunes
The wrath of things we said
The hurtful lies and screaming
The tears our hearts have bled

Is where I found my mourning
Languished in my pride
Drenched and soaked in sorrow
When the anger does subside

My solemn pain and promise
My resolve for a new start
In begging your forgiveness
Does your love have a heart?

I'll pick up all the pieces
Our broken dreams and hearts
Return them to the evening
And skip the hurtful parts

Profoundly I'm in mourning
Without you by my side
Will love suspend this scorning
When the anger does subside

How good a word is "languish"? Great use of rhythm and rhyme. Mal.

James... I really REALLY related and liked this poem.. How could you not be forgiven with such honesty in your words..such feeling in your cries.. i could feel it through this screen.

This reads so smoothly, yet it saddens... it's so difficult to recapture what was, when people have torn each other apart... but, it's not IMPOSSIBLE. - Good Write.
