Happiness is...
The model in the picture is my little one, Nina.

Those moments
when all thoughts
dissipate
When all
but self is left
present
in the moment
the soul
is offered a chance
to soar
to live consciously
and without forceful notions
the conception
of happiness
is...

(Remember a time you were happy...it was when you were not thinking of the past or future, you were living in the moment...we seem to lose alot of that as we grow up. Remember when you were a child? what business did you have thinking about past or future...)

Perfectly expressed! And your little one...a doll.

Spot on, Bernice! I love the way that you capture images and thoughts that punch so much more weight than their lightly-delivered and delicate expressions belie sometimes. Few can do this without becoming heavy-handed or bogged down, but you are gifted. And your meditations are so worth sharing! Your writes, I find, are a real tonic, infusing the heart, mind and soul. Yes I do remember now looking back those times and you know what? Now as I get older and have become a grandfather I get to see and experience times like that all over again with my new little ones each time I see them. Enjoy your little one she looks like a real doll.

Children are gifts from Heaven. Your Nina is beautiful, the best pictures are always the ones when the subject doesn't know they are being photoged. Thank you for sharing, made me smile and again feel the good in life. Warmth, Carin'

Hi Bernice--your poem reminds me of a line in a song named Giant Step by Taj Majal: "Remember the feeling as a child when you woke up and morning smiled. It's time, it's time, it's time you felt that way again." :) --Robert

Happiness is when I'm so caught up in someone else's beauty, that I forget about myself... funny-- the world says kids are totally self-centered, but I think that's not true. If they were, how could they be happy? It's the interaction that delights them. --bugs with nature, selves with others, water with light... that kind of stuff. Delightful. --Charlie
