swam a few laps
wore myself out
took an afternoon nap
refreshed with a shower
powered and perfumed and
combed out my hair

slid my pedicure feet
into summer sandals
ironed my blouse
and breezy silk skirt
matched all the colors
with lacy lingerie
opened a bottle
of crisp chardonnay

sipped it slow
on the back patio
watched the birds
and other hill creatures
yep, I got all dressed up
and there’s no place to go

Aww! Now that's sad. One reason I never dress up ... just in case I've nowhere to go. Nicely written. Tight, with no waste. Good job.

Good write, Poet. Sometimes you just have to take the bull by the horns.
