beautifully delicate
tall red tulips
sway their hips with the wind
pursing their lips to the passing
deer, heads lowered in consideration
of a mouthful of petals

yellow and black birds
croak songs at dawn
in jubilation of freshly
stocked seed trays
and thick beak peckers
adorn the tree branches
utilizing caution to
prowling stray cats

perhaps they are affected by this
luminous full moon
and numerical patterns upon
calendars or alignments of celestial groupings

nest builders gather twigs, others repair
from destructive intense winds
some just passing through, riding the
patterns in instinctual knowing where to be
and when

patterns upon patterns are fulfilled
not one thought in the effort
spontaneously arising, just being
life is lived, life is happening
awake and beautiful

How lovely that one can see their progression of life in this manner. How we age with such beauty and knowledge with what we gather along the way. You are a beautiful soul Debby

not sure which is more beautiful, your poem or or zenish garden; just the right amount of shade. I would love to meditate there...

this stanza is a lovely summation to a poem that has thrilled my heart and mind with an amazing sense of satisfaction as I partook of its images and ideas, Debby. I was 55 on the 4th and I immediately made a bee-line for this poem which seemed appropriate - and I'm glad I did! A beautiful work to "claim" as a birthday write! :)) xx

Taking on nature and taking it on very well, Debby. A composite of a hodgepodge of the tulips and the creatures who inhabit the space of earth nearby.
