My arms enfold her gently
I breathe a sigh of content
The world exactly as it should be
This woman that Heaven sent
“I love you,” I say to this angel
“I love you, too,” is her reply,
“But this I really must know
Before any vows draw nigh.
I need to know if you’ll hurt me
Like the one I had before.
Because of ‘love’ like that
It has left my heart so sore”
I turned to her and said
With all my heart and love,
“I would never be like ‘him.’
I swear it on Heaven above.
I would die before causing you pain.
I’d kill any who would do harm.
I love you more than life itself.
I am completely under your charm.”
Then I looked at her and smiled
Feeling in my heart the love,
“I promise to love you always
And to never hurt you, on Heaven above.” |
