How

How did we get to this place you and I,

That I did my part I won’t deny,

Lovers too soon and now we both cry,

Tears for what we never could get right.

How come it bothers me so,

To see you with him in my mind,

I would not take away your new smile,

To trade all the tears I could cry,

How would our lives be now?

If we hadn’t met somehow,

I’m glad for the time that we’ve shared,

Even if it ended us here,

How many nights full of tears?

To keep us from what we both could be,

This pain in my heart is so real,

But I’ve caused you more I believe.

How will it sound from my lips?

Strange like from some others mouth,

When asked what happened to us,

“Oh, we just didn’t work out”.

How bad this hurts now I can't describe,

Blinking the tears away from my eyes,

I guess the end of us has arrived,

Lovers no more we’ve ran out of tries,

How I know my Love you loved me,

I saw it there deep in your eyes,

But to look there now fills my heart,

With sadness and makes me cry.

How then do I say goodbye,

To A Love I let get away,

For foolish desire and doubt,

Led my heart far astray.

How about this if you will,

I want to be friends ‘til I die,

And if maybe we both find ourselves,

In a place where we can again we could try,

How do I tell you I Love You,

With all of my heart and my soul,

And not be a hypocrite as well as a fool,

Which I’ve been over and over again.

How did we get to this place you and I,

I’m glad for the time that we’ve shared,

Blinking the tears from my eyes,

Because I know that you really cared.
