Gonna try rhyming this one. Mock at your leisure.

Busted out pants
and another chance
with a bottle of J&B

There's a shirt on
the nightstand
a bucket for a
bed pan
and the smell of burning tea

And the singing in the
hallways
Sounds like
cries peeled faraway
and a song he sings in splinters

With a pull at his sock
and an adjustment of his cock
Old Smoke forgets plans
for the winter

There was a time
when a fifth wine
could get him through the
night

But his kidney's are swollen
and his hands are emboldened
by a glass dick's cherry light

What happened then
In his run down pen
was a wimpering serenade

A cry for help
a quiet yelp
cut off with a rusting blade.

J.E.

What a sad poem that starts out humorous and ends in tragedy. Very well written.
