Thereís a beast inside me.
Just beneath the skin.
Thereís a beast inside me
That I keep within.

It hides in the shadows,
And depths of my mind.
It keeps me searching,
For more of my kind.

It prowls my thoughts,
In search of a clue.
Iím falling out of grace,
Instead of into you.

The beast is pacing,
Like a tiger in a cage.
Get away from me.
I donít need your rage.

Iím crumbling into pieces.
Canít you see Iím dying?
You stand there in your stupor,
Not thinking of trying.

Someone let me out.
I want to be free.
Someone let me out.
I need to be me.

I cant put this facade on
For you any longer.
I know Iím getting weaker
You lie and say Iím stronger.

Thereís a beast inside me.
Just beneath the skin.
Thereís a beast inside me
That I keep within.

Youíre the key to my mind.
Wont you please crack the lock?
I need to spread my wings,
And get off this barren rock.

My tunnel has no
Light at the end.
Emptiness and anger,
To have without a friend.

The shackles are tied tight.
I have nowhere to go.
My head is pointed down.
No dignity to show.

Gotta get out.
Beast within.
Gotta break out.
Under my skin.

Hello Michael,
This is writing is so incredible!!! I thought, So much so, I couldn't help but think, about your comments so knowing, and the photo in your bio, you look so young..If, that is so, you are almost lucky in a sense, to be able to know, and examine yourself so closely, so accurately and so willing with such depth, and expression at such a young age..You have a tremendous wonderful gift in both that and , (though there lies too what can be tremendous pain, for being set apart from the rest of the race) your tremendous Talent at writing!!, The Gift, is what you get after having made all those inner explorations, having gone through it all, The higher plateau's you will reach, and are so very obviously capable of.
Most Excellent!!!!

You're right about that in ways....
I'm glad I did, too. This poem is wonderful!

Mike that was wonderfully said I have walked the path of that beast, it is frightening to know that it exists yet also know that no one but you understands this. Your poem is excellent.
