Firing squad

I'm getting over life...

Lined up before my fears and anger, holding in my hand, the rifle to end it.

I stand them up agsint the bricks.
Blindfolds and cigarettes.

The first one falls as the shot rings out, its horrid form slumping to the dirt.

They shiver before such might I hold. Wood and steel cold in my firm hands.

The second dies.
Bullet buried deep within.
It dissipates and passes on.

Shot after shot.
These demons die.
My firing squad army of one.

Bang.
Bang.
Bang.

Blast each one back to hell.

As the last one clutches to life, I watch it die and fall away.

I smile to myself...dropping rifle to the bloodied ground.

The bullets are spent.
I am free.
My demons are dead.
And of my own hands.

Bang bang bang.

It only took one finger to pull that trigger.
