I met my wife at age 13 and it was love at first site. We broke up but stayed friends through high school then got back together after school. I wrote this as a song just a little over 27 years ago.

We Were Meant To Be

We fell in a long time ago,
I changed my ways and you let me go.
I played around ‘cause I was free,
If I only knew we were meant to be.

I found a love and you found yours,
It helped to mend those yearning sores.
We thought we had them for eternity,
But it couldn’t work, we were meant to be.

She hurt me so I broke away,
I called you up that very day.
I needed you and you wanted me,
We thought just friends but we were meant to be.

You set me free though it made you blue,
But now in time I’ve come back to you.
To live together is our destiny,
Oh babe I love you, we were meant to be.
