Awash In Sin

This is not a happy poem. I took the idea from Luke 12:16-21. How did this man care more about bigger barns than about his soul?

I lived so fast, my seed to sow, I though I knew, which way to go. I searched for pleasure until when, I found myself awash in sin. I studied long, many a book, I thought I knew just what it took. I searched for knowledge until when, I found myself awash in sin. I worked so hard and loved my job, I was so slick, I beat the mob. I earned much more than other men, But found myself awash in sin. This race of life, I know I've won, My easy days have just begun. I have it all, I love it when, I find myself awash in sin. But God has set another race, For those who love, he gives His grace. My wealth was not, in proper place, With empty soul, I must Him face. I disobeyed, I was so cool, I lost it all, I was a fool. To burning fire, He put me in, I found myself awash in sin. 7.01.92  Copyright 2007
