It happened in 1985, how was I to know,
that I would be a zoo keeper of animals galore
The first one was with my daughter, who said
a cat followed her home. She asked if
she could keep it, I said I’d let her know.
Pookey was our first cat, he wouldn’t
be our last.
A few years later, my son opened up his dresser
drawer, there lie a beautiful black and white
kitten, he found him all alone, didn’t
know what to do, so took him home. Once again,
we were pet parents of an animal that needed a home.
He was a pretty black and white, we named this
one Bob.
A few years late, our precious Pookey died,
a common feline disease, although we
all loved him so, Bob felt the pain the most.
He’d lost his best friend, kept looking
all around, wondering when he would
come back again. I felt so sorry for him
I got another cat. He was a pretty
smoky gray, and I named the new
kitten Jack.
So that was the end of our pet brigade, I
foolishly thought so, we had no more
felines, but more animals to our house
would go.
My son was walking in an alley, and
happened to look down, there was
something there moving all
around.
It was a baby tortoise, somehow
gotten away from his mother
We adopted him, I was a little
afraid of it, this pet was like no other.
Okay, that’s enough, no more pets,
of course, once more was I wrong
For as my husband was driving, my
son was him that day, and yelled,
“Stop, look in the road! There
was another tortoise just taking a stroll
we called him Fred and he joined
our happy home.
Than our beloved Bob passed away,
our cat of 16 years. For some
reason, he was special to me, and
when he died, I couldn’t stop my tears.
Okay, down to three pets, Jack, Sam
and Fred. These were to be our last
pets, the children were all gone.
That is until yesterday, my husband
found a kitten, the cutest little thing
But it was a little scary, she looked
just like my Bob.
Okay, this time I really meant it, no more
pets for us, two cats, and two tortoises
was more than enough.
Do you really believe that?
My beloved Jack passed away
And that they said is that.
Ah, what a fool this mortal be
A kind heart, no brains at all
Three more homeless kittens
And my home is a mess of fur balls!
I named this a Revolving Zoo,
but belive me, I have a
feeling the revolving is no where through!
To be Continued....probably
