the joy animals bring

Large ball of gray fur, long gray tail, perhaps
a little large for a cat describes my four-legged
friend, better known as my Jack Cat
A best friend who always makes me smile
I’ve had Jack for many years,
Or shall I say he’s had me,
For any one that has a cat, knows,
owning them can never be.
He’s no youngster anymore, than again,
neither am I.
There is nothing so peaceful as a cup of hot chocolate
sitting in my chair with Jack on my lap.
He warms me with his furry coat, and tells me
he’s happy too, when the only sound I hear from him is
his quiet “I love you” purr.
I tell Jack all my secrets and he looks up at me with his
emerald eyes and says, “Okay, I’ll never tell”
When I’m not feeling well, he just seems to know.
I’ll lay down on my bed, and he comes and lies by my head.
He looks at me with a questioning meow, and asks if I’m okay.
I pet his head and tell him, “Let me rest for a while”.
He jumps down from the bed, you may think I’m crazy
but I actually see him smile.
I have to arise early every morning to get to my job on time,
but I don’t need an alarm clock with this special friend of mine.
I slumber deeply, than hear an incessant meow, plus a gray tail
brushing across my face, Jack can tell time somehow.
And when day is done, and time for bed, Jack lays
right near my head.
Jack gives all he has of himself and
asks so little in return. Give him food, water,
a clean litter box, and what he gives back
is his unconditional and unwavering love.

I "owned" a cat once .... but he was not really a pet friend. He was in charge and just gave instructions....and in his own way tormented our dog. You make me understand the goodness of having a pet such as Jack Cat. Susan

And like my "boy cat" Newton (my only cat now) These male "kitties" can be big for babies! So I hope you have a big bed when he sleeps with you at night. My boy does the same thing, and all 15+ pounds of him sit on my lap in the evening. You know male cats don't want much affection during the day? Enjoy your Christmas cocoa & cat! Merry...Michael

I don't own a cat but I do have a precious dog. His name is Blackie and he's my heart. Needless to say he has run of this household, but I don't mind. To me, he's my baby...I love him so much. I understand how you feel about Jack because of my little pet.

Many blessings,

I know what you are saying Mary as I just hung Kitty Kay's stocking with care. She is like one of the children and always makes sure I am not lonely when my husband is away.

Jack, being a bit larger than cats you've known, may be part Maine Coon. They're gentle giants, very friendly, intelligent furballs. :) Give Jack a pat and a purr from me: his "I love you" purr sounds delightful! Could use a furry blanket when nights are cold. :) Well done, Mary! And may you and yours have a very Merry Christmas!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
