Good-bye to a dear friend.

Ghost, we sometimes called you, because you never were around
While the others were eating their dinner, you hid in a secret hiding place
Nowhere to be found.

While the others jumped and played, you were cowering somewhere
We could never find you, you never seemed to be there.

But within the last few days, you came out to play.  Instead of running away, You came up to us to say hi.  You were a very happy cat, why you changed so much, we never knew why.

It never once occurred to us, you were coming out to say good-bye.
Such a happy, friendly cat those last few days of your life.  Playing and
jumping both day and at night.

Than  one sad day we saw you lying on the floor.  We thought you
were asleep, it was afternoon when you always took a nap.  But no,
you weren't asleep, it was nothing like that.

And when you didn't wake up, we knew your life was done.   Your
unique personality, like you, they'll never be another one.

Why did you leave us, I guess , as the old radio show, all we can think is:
Only the Shadow knows.

God Bless and keep you, dear one.

A very touching poem. Now that makes me wonder about our cat. She seems to be the same way. May God bless you every day of your life.

There MUST be a cat heaven because if people can go to heaven cats deserve a spot too. Besides, we will need a companion to pet in heavenly ways. I think that is where your can is. So rest assured, you will reunite one day. You are a GREAT author! Just get published!

"Only the Shadow knows." WoW! I listened to that show, and Boston Blackie and Baby Snoocks and . . . so many others, you brought back memories.

That is a strange and sad tale about the little cat. Somewhere in its thinking it knew it was going to die and decided to have some fun before it did. That's as good an explanation as any other.
