Dawn, I'm sure the thoughts come easy as you stroll
along the grassy Nantucket knolls, but it calls for
artistry to capture those thoughts in such lovely and
meaningful lines. -gene. |

Most beautifully written Dawn, and you have touched on the intrinsic value and uniqueness of love. There is nothing blind about it. It is eyes wide open all the time.
I could feel the heartstrings tugging with this melancholy offering.

Dawn - Truly an autumn poem reflecting on the psst and on love. The words, "gazing to a distant sun" are very effective in indicating not just distance in space but also distance in time.
Also liked how the last ines refute the old cliche,
she realizes true love isnt
blind but a constant, clear eyed state of knowing.

Beautifully said. I love that your poems are mostly written in the third person...it adds a hint of mystery to the poem as to whether it is a poem about the writer or about someone you watched or no one in particular at all. To me, it is like watching a scene in a movie play out--a silent movie and your words are like the captions at the bottom of the screen.

| Bingo... infatuation is, perhaps, blind, but unconditional is the love that sees and loves, warts n'all... and just how great is the love that continues in its steadfastness even in that "state of knowing". Lovely meditation, Dawn... me and Nantucket would go well together; it seems not unlike my Dorset home! :)) xx |

| Love the poem, and you do know how to "ease" into your point as Sheila has mention, but I maintain that love is blind, Dawn. It has been proven time and time again that love is a narrow, one-way street which refuses to see anything but love. This can be beneficial, of course, but it has also been very hurtful for millions, maybe billions of people throughout history. In the end . . . Love is just exactly . . . What it is. |
