thoughts –

clean and soft –

these, my cotton lined dreams,

gentle whispers of days to unfold.

passing slowly,

at times quickly,

each a personal page

from a book whose ending

has yet to be written.

a key is held in trembling hands,

although occasionally the same

hands are secure and steadfast.

still, I grow as I learn from

mistakes past and present, smiling

at the beauty of life’s contradictions.

I loved the growth in this poem from the opening thoughts clean andsoft to final beauty of life's contradictions. You painted an interesting progression in thought and awareness beginning with the great opening stanza.............Jerry

Dawn - Profound meditation on life and its imperfections. Especially liked the ending:

still, I grow as I learn from

mistakes past and present, smiling

at the beauty of life’s contradictions.

Dawn, there's a lovely universality about the way you think and write. I suppose we all are victims or benefactors of life's contradictions. Excellent. -gene.

THIS is one of your absolute best, Dawn.

"gentle whispers of days to unfold." says so very much / The rest of the poem sorta revolves around this line in my opinion / I reread it and am amazed at the subtle suggestions, the out-and-out reality of words and lines which underline deep thought . . .
