At 2 a.m.
when the wind
was whispering perfect poems
into my sleep fuzzed ears,
I jumped from bed,
not quite awake
but highly motivated.

Knowing
that I am but a vessel,
a vassal that holds the pen,
I proceeded to transcribe
the perfect poem.

My hand was guided
by a greater force,
My soul was on fire.

When the poem was written,
I plumped my pillow
a little higher
and lounged instead of slouched,

never doubting
that in the morning
during my daily rituals,
my Colgate White
would polish pearls
instead of teeth.

Then,
I rolled over once
and moaned.
It was all
a dream.

Oh no...not one of those dreams! How well I know those dreams of accomplishment only to awaken and discover it was but a dream. I learned a trick from a poet here, E.T. Waldron. She taught me to keep paper and pen next to my bed so that I could capture the thoughts upon awakening.Matter of fact, that's the first product/title of the suggestion! Don't let those dreams escape. They make beautiful poetry.
A warm welcome to Author's den.
Hugs,
Taylor

Don't you just hate when that happens. But, your day writing is pretty awesome.

Oh, I've seen some of your poetry I'd put up there at the near perfect spot . . . Nice bit of foolishness here . . . What! You don't
answer emails? . . .

LOL I hear ya: but your dream gave us, the readers, a delightful poem! Yes, the perfect poem, describing your dilemma. Well done!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Beautiful. Those silly dreams sometime disappoint us. At least you wrote the perfect poem -- even if it was in a dream. Who can argue with that?
