(Written 3 months before my son was born, I think this captures the hopefulness of new parents.)

Gaze up, my wide-eyed little one -
such marvels are awaiting you.
Your voyage here has just begun;
a course to plot across sky blue.

With gracious winds forever free,
with compass, charts and tomes of lore,
and passion for discovery,
you'll rip the clouds with thunder's roar.

You'll hurdle without hesitance
to altitudes that stun, enthrall!
On wings of wild exuberance,
how you will soar above them all...

But first, drift home for supper, please,
and wash each hand, four fingers, thumb.
Thank God for carrots, dogs and trees,
and thanks for all that you'll become.

Great stuff! My "Rubber, Purple Dinosaur" was written when my son was 5 and my "Expectant Father" was written before he was born. I look forward to reading more of your poems.

Wonderfully optimistic for a long and hopeful future, enjoyed....

Be safe,
