You talked little
About all you endured
The pain
The abuse,
But there were those moments
You would talk to me
On Warm Georgia nights
When we stood outside.
You would tell me the hell
You endured
And your little boy
And I never hated someone so much
As that ex who
Was supposed to
Love you
But only hurt you.
I would listen with tear filled
Eyes and a hand on your shoulder
A gentle reminder that I was there.
Friends forever it did not matter
What you told me
And I knew the same was
True for me too.
You knew my darkest secrets
And still did not judge me
And I knew yours
And would never judge you.
You talked little
About the hell you
Endured
But you talked
And I listened
That shoulder for you to lean on
And the same was true for you to me
Too.
