I saw her, an innocence photograph
peeking out yesterdays window
lost attempts on an ole phonograph
the ole records wax, worn low
she never knew it was pain
only cried for his solemn voice
something about a Texas rain
don't criticize your every choice
she walks only, in her mind
a slow waltz in a blubonnets field
"the everyday," seems so unkind
bereave the father now killed
"darling rest your lil wings,
heavens flight, is not your song,
destiny unites us forever, again
two rights won't fix the wrong"
intentions become a fogged window pane
eyes fixed on an old desolate road
nobody predicted the blinding pain
the towns' paper, is his paragraph told
"father, I'll kiss your touch
mother, rest your worried mind
twenty-one guns say as much
the slow cadence respects your kind
"n" that ole uniformed photograph
perched on todays windowsill
reminds me to turn of the phonograph
a flag draped coffin is what, is real
