should ya see the child with curly hair
flowing over her angelic face
it's only to hide her tears in the storm
she never gives notice to those who care
only thought is to beckon what was warm

plans "n" maps are but a crumpled heap
last years dinner will always taste of him
something about the way he stoked a flame
they way he slept countin your sheep
tears ask you Lord what has become of him

does he remember the times he said goodbye?
or, weep over the times that i'd pray?
if I walk the mountain to the ole cabin
will his soul meet me with a childlike smile?
I wonder if we could kneel down 'n" pray?

I swore i'd give this empty souls life
ten minutes on my cross to bare
should God give me ten minutes back
not to much to ask, "says the widowed wife"
my poem to him is, "Everything We Share"

as ya know your children ask of you again
is he resting or, is he to tired wake up?
darlin, I have to turn down their lil nite lites
once upon a dream we shared, I awoke again
"n" i ponder these memories in your coffee cup

as that dawn breaks over that ole shed
I remember the tears you held inside
rains on the tin roof cry your name often
it's when i search for your scent in our bed
I realize what keeps you here, deep inside........

this is dedicated to beautiful woman who lost her husband to suicide......
