winds have covered this field of wheat
nothing left in me to frighten
no more worried children on a street
don't mistake what is a tear for sorrow
it's brushed with a sleeve of liking

hallowed halls and dim lit rooms
they are but a dream of yourself
never will I be beat you with brooms
the rats, I know all by their names
ya see i raised them on my shelf

sixty watt bulbs have come and gone
and clothes have tattered in soil "n" waste
but, in this war I think I may have won
ropes left to bind on this day will unravel
I'll not leave your imprisonment in haste

winds swept over this gal named, Grace
must of been the window that shattered
Lord knows all about this hiding place
lil girls don't belong in your or, hers dark
tears on my cheek was all that mattered

and as I peer thru that basement window
I can see the children who are better than me
the chair is not rockin for some others show
that old rope is my prayer for life I never knew
a chair falls as I screamed, " please find me"!!
