As we sit atop the hood of your car
Cuddled beneath a small nit blanket
you hold my hand as a star has fallen
The tradition of wishes is now permit

We close our eyes and wish upon stars
you open and gaze to question my dreams
You ask me sweetly what I asked the skies
I replied," it's too late for me it seems"

Confused, you asked me what I had meant
I gave a kiss and a gentle smile
You asked again still dazed and confused
"My wish came true for some short while"

you asked once more what my wish was
and I looked up to skies above
"On a night such as this when we first met
I asked the stars for one true love"
