I would love to wait for the sunrise
As we are wrapped in one blanket
Woven through promises
Of love and time.
Yet you are never there
Sharing woven promises
Quilt of passion
I believed were ours.
I alone watch each sunrise
Wrapped in a blanket
With arms not yours
But mine.
Embracing my loneliness
Each poetic day that transpires
Engaging my grief as I weep
Each surreal night that inspires
Every poet to love tears
To taste the blood wound
In my heart.
As I clutch my bleeding heart
As I kneel to pray
Looking for the Holy Light
I couldn’t find it
Is it there?
Where is it?
Does it exist?
The Holy Light I plead
To enlighten and heal
My wound past inflicted
By broken pieces of Romance
Faith, Trust, Dreams, and Time
And then with each unheeded call
Of the elusive Holy Light
I die more broken than those
Who have passed away
I die each time I see you
I die each time you’re here
I die each time I’m alone
I die each time I love you.
Now, I have our woven blanket
That was to commune us together
But it is only I here
The Holy Communion of love between me
And my broken soul.
There was never you
There was never us
My dear we are created as one
I lost you in the oblivious path of morality
And the illusion of time
Yet I did find you in the whirlwind
Of love and miracle.
I found you
And I knew I am alive.
Yet my dear one as I hold my pained heart
You are not here anymore
You are there
Somewhere confused
In the arms of a muse you thought you love
But I am your soul
The one you love with promises I can die for
Where are you dear?
Like the Holy Light
Which I never found
I never found out if the Holy Light
Exists or existed
Like your love if it exists or existed.

The sun will continue to rise and set
But I will never watch it with you
For inside our woven blanket
Now I know my sole hands made it
There is only me
And my wounded heart and broken soul
You were never there
Because you never loved me.

You may not have made
The woven blanket of love
Of faith, trust and passion
But you worked on something
Which I call your masterpiece
In this masterpiece you made
Using just your taken heart
Strong hands and stern soul
You created beautifully my dear

My grave.

Love the "quilt" metaphor that runs through this and the way it ties into the (security) blanket references. The repetition of the "I die" lines was spot on, not over done and visually they were great with the "E" lines earlier in the piece. A wonderfully constructed piece. Mal.
