I want to be you, God
Just for a day if You recognize time
In this way, I get all answers I need
And live the way I dreamed to be.

If You let me be You, God
Perhaps there will be lesser pain
In all the hearts and souls of human beings
Even in the animal and the plant kingdoms too

There will be lesser sufferings, if nothing is impossible
I pledge to try being a Loving God
I promise to fulfill all dreams for those who deserve them
In this way, all people will remain faithful, and learn to believe in justice.

I want to be You, God
If I become You there will be…

No more children thirsty and hungry
No more abused people, of their flesh, body, mind, and soul
No more drought and famine
No more color distinctions that segregate the human race
No more wasted water, polluted air, and chaos in the environment
No more animal extinction even plants too
No more fools and those who fool
No more politics even politicians if possible
No more taxes only contributions
No more hierarchy of the well-oiled and the lesser rich
No more holy wars in the name of religions
No more arm racing of missiles and nukes
No more gender discrimination, gays are people too, more humane I insist
No more incurable diseases such as AIDS, cancers, and insanity
No more depression whatever the cause may be
No more anti-depressants and tranquilizers
No more drug dependency
No more love unreturned
No more dishonesty
No more unfaithfulness
No more persecutions of those who love with all their hearts
No more tears
No more bitterness
No more injustice
No more pretensions
No more sacrifices
No more pain…
No more pain…
No more pain…

I want to be You, God
And stop the pains that hurt the human soul
To stop the pain inside me for years now
To live and recognize happiness and eternal love

These entire, God I want to do
If I become You
But then again, I thought
You did not create this world perfectly
You have your reasons we human beings will never know
Because we are not gods and will never be
We are like paintings you create beautifully everyday
Unfinished work of art we are
You are the greatest painter
Color us in your will
And make us whole until we come back to You…

I want to be You, God
We all want to be happy
But I try to understand
Why I can’t change the world
Just like why we do not allow dogs to rule the world
We are just Your children
Bless me Oh God
Bless me in Your Grace
Bless me in Your Love…

God, if I can’t be You
At least make me like You…
Let me be strong.
Let me be Love.

more than you know, my special friend (always there at my den) MORE STRENGTH AND MORE LOVE....ARE YOU, IS MY GUESS...THAN YOU KNOW...
Powerful, honest, beautiful and mostly ever so caring human, human seeking within this piece, wow, sounds silly, but not meant to be, just wow, this/you...applause and silence and love!!!!

This is plain-as-day good. The age-old conflict is there, unspoken as always: Why am I praying to a god I would condemn as a murderer, a thief, a bringer of plague?

Perhaps the question is being framed wrongly. If you assume god exists, project all these things onto that assumption, and worship it--is that god? Or an illusion of your making? How can we approach the question when we have this self-made image of the answer?

"I Want To Be You" is, - as a Poem -, a beautiful sample of the Major Literary Art.

Many striking points, many social, political and theological issues.

I think that the Author should consider a revision on the last two stanzas.

I enjoyed reading this Poem "I Want To Be You".

I Salute the Author of this masterpiece, "I Want To Be You".

Great poem. But I suppose God knows we cannot be like Him even for a day while we are on this earth. Imagine what we would do to our enemies. Don't take this comment personally but the majority knows what I mean.

nice poem erica, i think it could be shorter, not for it being too long, but because somethings are already stated in other lines.
and hey here is an idea: these "reviews" are about the (are ya'ready) "the poems" leave YOUR god at home!

Dear Erica, A well written poem. But I agree with Aamie, we bring all of troubles on ourselves. God did send us his Son to cleanse us. We need to recleanse! As I wrote It was well written as all of your writings are. I just think you're blaming God for screw ups.

... [this comment is not meant to be a put down to you, Erica; only a treatise on my own deep doubts. When the Rapture comes, I will be one of the left behinds; but then somebody has to be left to fight the good fight … right? :]
… In your heart of hearts don’t you know God would make us a perfect world if he could. God does not cause pain and suffering, we visit that on ourselves. He does not make us happy, he has given us the capacity for happiness. He is not responsible for death and destruction, those things are innate in our makeup. Each of us has more power than god to make the world into paradise, but it is a lot easier to blame it all on god than it is to stand up and be accountable as a people.
… God fearing? Give me a break! Fear your fellow man. Evil set upon us? Get real! Evil is within us all. Can’t you see it everyday on the news, and it is not only in war that we see man’s inhumanity to man. Pray for peace? You got to be kidding! Look around … don’t get me started!!!!!

And I just wanta be like you. So deep and compasionate. A marvellous poem that brought tears to my eyes. You are so far away Erica ... across an ocean ... but your writing brings you so close to me. All the
time I have known you ... your poetry has always excelled. You are so intelligent and beaufiful. WHAT A WINNING COMBINATION! "You Light Up My Life," and my heart. Your friend Bill

You *ARE* LOVE. No one can speak of compassion wih thoughts and questions like you did here and not be compassionate. Sometimes we make our life a Hell and then , if we're smart , we learn and become better beings and pass it on.Thank you for being part of my world. You speak so well for me.

Love and peace,
Susan
