ARBOR DAY
Thus noted as Arbor Day
honored to planting of trees
for our children and grandchildren
as the natural shade of their needs.
Plant a tree with the kids this day;
have a picnic around its trunk small...
they'll take pride in the planting
and sharing its beauty with all.
Oh, we can't make a difference, you say?
You'll find birds singing your praise;
soon find comfort beneath
what will last longer than your days.
Trees - along with clean air,
and purity of our waters -
help to sustain Earth's beauty;
fowl and creatures we cannot barter.
When your wasting all that paper
remember this one thing, please:
we're not as affluent as we think
when we're killing our wonderful trees.
So plant a tree on this National Day,
replace the fibers you have used.
A tree is a natural filter for air we breath
and we can't afford to abuse.
If we each plant a tree this Arbor Day,,,WOW, something to think about

I read somewhere that a man, wanting to give something back after being blessed with health and fortune, arranged for the planting of one million trees, if those most fortunates do the same, the way to recovery of Mother Earth will be put in the fast lane.

Thank you for the reminder my friend. I wish we could save all of them for they are so beautiful. We are losing many to the beetles and I'm so frustrated, they say there's nothing they can do. Thank you for this wonderful write. Love, Bonnie

Jackie, my humble thanks for reminding all of the gifts trees give us. Disappearing forests have long been a concen of mine. Most folks do not stop to consider the consequences of a reduced or no tree world. No people! Trees tremendous contribution to the oxygen content of our atmosphere is a facet of trees many people are not aware of. The loss of much of the South American rain forest has had a most negative impact upon our planet. In our country ever increasing use of wood lands for housing developments, farm lands, shopping malls, industrial complexes and golf courses are depleating our trees at an alarming rate. Plant a tree, nuture a tree. Preserve a tree through reduced use of paper products. My sincere thanks again for reminding everyone. Jon Michael Willey

Arbor Day - a day many of us used to celebrate, and now, so many seem to have forgotten. I think I'll plant two or three trees this Arbor Day, Micke, and I hope many heed your message.

Beautiful reminder to do something to repair the damage we've done - will it be enough, or will it be too late? Powerfully penned, Jackie, well done.
