Katrina Steel describes the steps towards recovery

Katrina Steel

Forged from twisted and rusted beams

A fortress garden planted

2 Years spent in denial;

Wonders of wonders,

Something blooms.

April’s unseasonable frost

Deters not the bulbs

That sprout from their vision.

Mother reclaims the soul,

And this premature child

Nursed to health,

Stunted, stumbles forward;

Trembling,

On unsure legs

As Mother beckons;

The child steals its courage,

Moving forward,

Step-by-step,

Until

Running becomes effortless.
