I Am Just a Baby Brown Pelican

I am a baby brown pelican.

I can’t see; I’m blind.

I never had a chance.

Who’s BP? What’s happened?

I’m hungry; it hurts to swallow.

Where’s my mommy?

Are you my mommy?

Masked eyes look sad.

Someone is scrubbing me.

This smells weird.

This does not smell like mommy.

What’s this gooey stuff?

Is my mommy in there?

Tiny web feet unable to stand;

Downy feathers tethered.

Where’s my mommy?

I am a baby brown pelican.

I can’t see; I’m blind.

I never had a chance.

Who’s BP? What’s happened?

Dr.Seuss would have fallen in love with such compassion and would be weeping now I would think as am I. Thank you. It says so delicately, think of me, don' I count too?
