This is a sad write, Shelia, but expresses clearly what young soldiers must go through. I can't even begin to imagine the kind of stress they feel as they shoulder the fear of the shadow of death. A good write.

Your concluding stanza just rips at the heart, Sheila...and the entire piece speaks to such bravery and loyalty by those who serve and the sacrifices they, and their families, make for us all. How I wish war did not exist. An important piece of writing, my friend. Well done! Hugs, Elizabeth

You had me from the very first line here, Sheila. Powerfully scripted work that drives its message home. I love the way you link the title with the last line - very clever how the two questions answer each other. Excellent, thank you. Kate xx

Sheila, it is not possible for Americans to express the gratitude we owe our brave soldiers of every era in American history -- your poem openly offers that view to those who seldom consider all that have died so that others may live in peace with personal freedoms to do as they please -- thank you for this wonderful salute to them -- peace and love my friend -- Jon Michael

The first line certainly sets a tone for these moving and well articulated thoughts. There is much that mankind can learn from the bees, and also ants, about unity and purpose.
Also, I believe, that there must be mutualism between duty and dreams. A social force that binds you to the courses of action demanded by that force, that is also accompanied by all the branchings of a cherished desire to accomplish something worthwhile. I believe that the military is as much a calling in ones life as being a nurse or an astronaut. Hope all is well and that you are healthy and happy ...
Blessings ...
And I hope that you enjoy MJ2.

Sheila,
You know how I feel, as the daughter, sister, niece, cousin of Veterans, as well as a USAF Veteran, myself - those before paved the way for my own service. They are truly my heroes and have my ultimate respect and gratitude. Powerful reminder - well done.
