Good morning sun,
Are you ready for
a brand new day…
****************

I was taught to soar
ever so graceful
over the grass to wake
them with a gentle breeze.

The breeze vibratos
delicate harp music
through the blades of
grass and wakes nature.

I am soundless as
I land on the edge of
a morning glory to
bathe in a crystal
dewdrop

When I am finished I
tickle its softness
with my delicate feet
to give a last call for
all to greet the sun

“Wake up sleepy heads”

The lilacs promised me
that I could sample their
scent today, if I dropped
in for sweet nectar tea

I was taught proper
visiting etiquette and
told not to overstay my
welcome, so I shall take
flight

Down below a sun-dressed
cherub is trying to catch
me but I spin circles around
her head

Hmm…so sweet

The sun is high now, and
time to meet my beau for
lunch in a quiet garden of
tall flowers.

I see him approaching. Oh,
how I love him and the way
his regal colors soar through
the blue sky

A kiss lighter than us before
we dine
His choices; so succulent

Then, from above I see our shadows
in a bed of impatients and watch as
he wraps his wings around mine

This has the lightness of a whisper, the beauty of a pageant and the finesse of a work of art as it moves effortlessly from stanza to stanza. I love the sense of innocence and yet sensuality, too. A lovely write, Marilyn, thank you. Kate x

Augh sweet Miss Seray...I speak to the Monarchs and their voice comes back inside of your poetry. The poor Monarchs are surely doomed with the foretell of colder weather coming to their home south of the US. I read of this just yesterday. My heart is full with the flutter of their wings and the struggle they will endure. Your words are strength. Thank you.
Love,
Susan

Dear Marilyn,
I read this poem several times to delight again and again in the appreciation of its theme, your approach to the writing of it, and how the thought, feeling, verse form all join to form a singular richness of impact.

I don't know whether you intended the poem to be read on more than one level. For me, though, it DOES operate on the levels of the literal and the symbolic.

The free verse form is perfect for the work and, all in all, I would classify this as a poem of simple elegance which, like all good poetry, evokes thoughts, feelings and emotions similar (I imagine) to those which inspired it.
