Hurry Up!

A fast-paced fun description of my first metro train ride--Enjoy!

Swipe the card

pass through the gate

Hurry up, hurry up,

Can't be late!

Down the escalator

no time to be still.

Run the steps.

You'll get the feel.

Into the darkness,

move down the way.

The train is coming,

 Another busy day.

The door slides open

Step on in!

It's time for this metro

ride to begin.

Not too crowded.

Take a seat.

Watch the kid,

What a feat!

The train takes off,

moves in a dash!

Into the tunnel,

bright lights flash.

Several stops happen,

here and there.

Soon, it's our turn,

to exit this fare.

Up the escalator,

No time to wait.

Hurry up, hurry up,

Can't be late!

Into the sunshine

strolling along,

See the Washington Monument

standing strong.

The Viet Nam Wall,

The Lincoln Memorial,

Standing tall in

our nations Capitol.

So many sights and sounds

to explore...

Yet, soon it's time

to end this tour...

Frances -

Whew! You wrote this so well I'm still trying to catch my breath!

Gee those are exactly my feelings of my first trip on the Metrorail! Being from the small southern town of Indian Trail mass transit is not something we are accustomed to enjoying. Boarding at the Pentagon, on the Yellow Line I believe, then riding the Metro into our nation's capital city was far more exhilarating than any Carowinds amusement park ride!

Oh what a wonderful description, felt like I was running to catch the subway again, even running up and down those escalators...

Be always safe,

Great description and that is exactly how it is. Exciting though it was to me. Have not been there in years, but would like to see those sights once again. Washington D.C. is really a beautifully laid out city for touring.
