Halloween

the vampire settles

for a Hershey’s kiss

November 1st-

candy wrappers

roam the streets

witches and warlocks-

little monsters

behind the masks

bruised for days

her trick

was not a treat

It's not Halloween but your creative expression is just as effective and enjoyable, Lori. Love and best wishes to you,

Wonderfully done, Lori.

The first three fill me with the warm fuzzies, Lori, in the sense that I feel they address the exuberance of childhood innocence "behind the freakin mask!"... but my goodness, the counterpoint of the fist in the velvet glove of the fourth! The stark reality of life that is a living hell for some. Yes, this holiday is largely taken in fun, but can we be surprised if there's an upsurge in grievous bodily violence on the back of it? We jollify, glorify and act out gore then condemn the real thing... seems crazy to me... But I'll not be the spectre at the feast! Great Ku as always. thanks, Kate xx

Gorgeous renderings, Lori; the final one has a dark resonance and the intended pun makes it more so.
These are great.

Very entertaining...as Kuul as they come. I read the last two stanzas two different ways and prefer to look at it like Jerry and his red light district sense of humor. The other way puts a bit of a damper on of sadness on it all. Tie goes to the reader.Patrick
