Stone angel

Reclines amid ivy,

Wings folded,

Eyes averted;

Reaches upward

Toward heaven,

Gazes downward

Toward some otherworldly place;

While I can do neither,

But stand here on cold ground,

And sift through memories

To play over again;

In a dream I saw

A whole army of angels

Bringing you home

To me;

They carried you

Within shimmering light

That moved the night,

I saw your face;

Tears spilling from my eyes

Fell as violets at my feet,

But then I woke;

They turned to stone.

Very powerful and poignant poem. You made me feel that I share in your situation. We all are caught between the struggles of angels. Your craftsmanship and simile are excellent, well done...Jerry

Your crafting of imagery is excellent, weaving through scenes and

Leann,
This is a beautiful offering. Death is never easy to accept. Angels provide peace and hope amid the sadess.
Thank you for sharing your work; this poem is a treasure.

I have stood and had similiar dreams Leann and wondered if they were not messages from the souls of those we so miss. Communications may not be as easy as cartoon character ghosts rapping on walls but...mayhap the energy of souls still does linger and it is only in dreams that we can truly feel their presence. Lovely write, look forward to more.

Leann,

Very emotional piece. Your imagery was perfect. I love the part and thought of an army of angels carrying someone home. A beautiful symbolism. Peace, Love and Blessings Always, Paul.

You are an Angel to have feelings like that, no wonder they visit you in your thoughts and dreams, but check deeply the one mourned they put into your soul, and is shimmering there! ( tears spilled fell as violets at my feet) are shared tears. Very beautifully expressed sentiments. Love and Blessings! Jasmin Horst
