Soldier Without A Cause

I look at you and the sun rises,
The sun sets when I turn my eyes away
Yet I can't stop the drum roll inside
Or the fact that you make me feel this way.

I recognise these symptoms
For which no doctor has a remedy for
Yet I doubt a drop would be spared
So my tears resign to wash me pure.

Still they trickle like a river
Not taking the love but the sanity instead,
Leaving me bound and broken in love
With hopeless prayers in my head.

The slight tremble of my hand
Feels like an earthquake to the heart to me,
The fire in the pit of my soul
Is a blaze eating away what it sees.

I've been in this situation before,
Fallen in love with a man just like you
It still splits me wide apart
To think what he thought he could do.

I thought I found my angel
But instead it was the devil in disguise,
I was convinced I found my light
When only shadows burned in his eyes.

I know you're different people
But the pain won't let me surrender my heart
It calls to you so loud and clear
While my mind says you'll tear me apart.

Yet I look at you, no more resolutions
Your smile melts the defiance that I hold
I'm a soldier fighting without a cause
Begging please be gentle with my soul.

Take it all one day at a time Keighley. Being hurt is a part of the learning process of life ... as hard as it might be to bear.

I know it's hard sometimes to do, but I believe each individual deserves at least the chance to prove themselves. Not everyone is alike. We must be willing to leap with an open heart, otherwise there is no sense in leaping at all. Good write Keighley. Lisa
