A local solider returns from Iraq with honors.

He came home today.
I only know his name.
He was an honored person,
saluted with water cannons
as the plane rolled into place.
A cordon of soldiers awaited .
Straight and tall they stood,
then marched grandly with heads held high
when the planes door opened wide.
He was lifted high and all could see
but this was not the way
we would want it to be.
He returned from Iraq,
this fine young man.
As he had given all
for his Mother land.
His family wept their sorrow was plain ,
we all had tears as we felt their pain.
Down through town for his final ride,
with flags flying along the curb side.
