This is another poem that came from an assignment to write a paragraph in an Developmental English course I was taking at a local community college.
The assignment was to be about a funny or humorous event that had happened.
I got the idea from all the stories about the fellow in West Virginia who won the lottery and seemed to have this habit of leaving his pouch of thousands of dollars behind when he left.

We all have at sometime Really wished for something That we wanted very badly Was an impossibility We all have had a wish list Even if it did not exist Be careful what you wish for Because you might just get more But what is involved here is a problem Everyone has been faced with this problem When your ship finally does come in And your hair stands up on your skin Just what are you going to do with it And how are you going to handle it You might get more than you wanted Or you just might be disappointed Also what might be destined for your hands Could end up in someone else’s hands
