A New Me?

It must be those movies I'm watching. . .

A New Me?

I’ve never been a prima donna

A diva-type, you know?

Think of bare feet and jeans in summer,

Come winter, a dive headfirst into snow.

All of a sudden there’s this child

Calling out from my heart--

She wants to dance in toe shoes

Wear a pink tutu in the fairy queen’s part.

Where’s she been hiding for so long

This new little girl, silent, unseen?

She’s calling out to be noticed,

A mystical Evangeline.

I might want to get to know her,

I might hope she stays in view,

Maybe I could make her happy,

The possibilities are so new.

Swishy dresses and such high heels,

Ordering things avant garde?

It might last for a day or two,

Then I'd be back, smiling, mowing the yard.

Ahhhhh, those dreams are wonderful escapes that loosen the tension in our souls. Your poem is a beautiful dreamscape.

You've captured the essence of what it's like to dream, and than come back to life. Beautifully written.

Wonderful Eileen go for it, go for experiencing life, listen to the call, forget the arguments of the rational brain, it wants to live life in a save egotistical routine, go blow it's mind, you'll feel better afterwards, Bless You! Jasmin Horst
