If you've never read Shelley's "Ozymandias" or it's been a long time, the poem was my inspiration.

Ancient Truths

Poseidon's laughter.

Mankind, oblivious, smug--

Hubris crushed by waves.

How true. I love the sea, too, and believe we should respect nature always....especially before it's too late.

I enjoyed the well-matched poem and picture, Eileen. The wise will ever be humbled by the power of the sea.

As a lover of the sea and ocean I also have no misconceptions about both it's physical and metaphysical (not sure if that is the right word or not). I have sailed the high seas in storms that would make a grown man shiver in fear and I have been calmed out of my worst fears by the lulling of the waves. Great write.

Very nice. I think we all need those waves... every now and then.
