Book 5: The Nublis Chronicles: Dark Angel
by Kate Saundby

Sanctuary of peace in the grasp of demon spawn, love is forbidden to the one leashed between the realms. What price will he pay for tasting the forbidden?..

She’s looking back across the years
where yesterday seems somehow bent,
a crumbling bridge of sacrifice
still reaching for her true intent.

So many best laid plans gone by
the dreams that somehow always fade,
while cold the granite bears her name
that time will weather, crack and fade.

A bargain with the devil made
unfortunate, her heart deceived,
bound, gagged and held by cruel intent
robbed soul of all it once believed.

Still struggling to sort through the haze
yet mesmerized by broken dreams,
caught up in silken webbed design
that chokes and silences her screams.

Exposed with all her heart laid bare
beneath the razor blade of love,
that cuts a wound no one can heal
lest angels gather from above.

Her pale skin shivers with the fear
that all this pain should never save
her heart from slowly dying with
epiphany found in the grave.

Powerful and haunting! This is your venue, Melissa. Its difficult at best to create poetry such as you do...

this is excellent. the fourth verse might read more smoothly with one more word added to the last line ie 'that chokes and silences all her screams'. but what do i know, just a thought.
