Beneath the skin hides all this darkness
pieces left behind remain
what cannot be forgotten rises
surfacing once more its stain.

Tired of trying to pick through reason
make excuses for another
God forbid we count the hours
I break my soul just being a mother.

All alone I face my demons
put them back once more inside
where itís the only comfort offered
Iím too tired to have much pride.

Yes, I see your cross you suffer
hard to miss, you wave it high
forgive me if I seem so cold
I just donít have the time to cry.

You never knew me all this time
wonít take a deeper look within
donít want to listen to my heart,
denial plays your song again.

So sad that you donít see the damage
heated words that find their prey
Iíve lost the will to play this game
you win againÖI walk away.

What uncertain demons tug harslhy upon that rope of thought seeped in despair and sadness...where once the sunflower strained endlessly to the heavens of your mind? The thorns of suffering have scratched open wounds upon your fair flesh and yet your heart struggles to the surface of the inundating fears we all have experienced deep down inside our souls. The last line..."you win again...I walk away" pronounces that pain and the recourse of reality.

better to dream alone
than stuck in a broken one
better to be alone
than lonely together
better to make present past
than trapped in bad weather
some times walkiing away is relief

your poem is excellent written

I find great strength in your verse, Melissa. Hang onto that, particularly if this write is autobiographical. Wonderful work. Keep writing, Dawn

As always Melissa , your verse is powerful and beautifully written.
I hope if it's personal and you have to walk away, keep that head up and know you are worth much more than any fool who is too ignorant to listen.

You will eventually find how free you are...really. Whether our "Alone" is by a walk-out or death, we do survive. And if you find you are often talking to yourself, enjoy the moment...might be the best conversations you have...LOL...Sprit UP, girl; strong voiced verse!

Wow, I can really relate to this, Melissa. After years of struggle...when walking away would have been excruciatingly difficult.... the time is now right to walk away and it is now so freeing to be walking away from battles best left unfought.

Very nice job.
