The Night Crawler

He hides in the shadows, till dark of night falls,

While lying and waiting, his thirst for blood calls,

A victim draws near, unaware of his hiding,

His taste buds start tingling, his jaws start a-widening,

Her clip-clopping feet pound the wet cobbled street,

Still closer she gets and so does the meat,

Her sweet smelling perfume caresses his being,

Already he tastes her young flesh, so appealing

He drools at the mouth like a wild rabid dog,

She'll wish she'd stayed home, safe out of the fog,

His victim he sees, at the end of the lane,

Quickly he hides and raises his cane,

She turns the last corner and stops at his side,

She pulls out her phone and checks on her ride,

The taxi she'd booked will be out at the gates,

Her boyfriend she speaks to, while she awaits,

The stalker then crawls back into his tomb,

Then patiently waits for a victim to loom,

Soon she'll appear and he'll jump on her back,

Then whack with his cane and devour his snack!

Very well done! You convey well the social environ ment of the day and the realism of dangers.

Stay well and keep writing.

Oh, my gosh, Claira, I almost felt like it was me who was unknowingly moving toward danger!!! Great job of keeping the pace on track and with your delightful, engaging, word choices. Glad I avoided the stalker!!! heee

That's creepy and delightfully wicked...and fun to read!

I like the impression of ancient evil lurking opposite the modern aspects of phone and car...

Well done.

C.J.,

I love the rhyme and flow of your poem. That night crawler seems like a sure cure for for what ails. (lol). Peace, Love and Blessings, Paul.
