Prodigal Daughter

Prodigal Daughter

Lost—

I saw the Light,

          just like my Father said,

but recoiled from it in horror

behind the Altar in my head.

While the shadows, they kept writhing

across the windowpanes,

for truth was an illusion

I searched for—but in vain.

And all the faded Holy Men,

in their robes of blood-stained white,

walked out upon the Waters,

to slowly disappear from sight.

As I beheld the Land of Eden,

with its star-lit double Door,

                    but chose instead—Salvation

                               —Found—

                              on this Distant Shore.

Beautifully penned, Carol, hope shines in these lines!

A profound meditation... "Prodigal Daughter" comes with deep esoteric symbolism, and yet it prods the wings of imagination with an exoteric lexis throughout its lines.

I salute You, Poet.

In admiration,
