I write of a loss
inexplicable to my heart,
of a sister I loved
though we grew up apart

A voice came over the phone
uttering the words one never should hear,
“ I think you need to sit down”, the rest
was heartbreaking and clear

Should've and could’ve and
why I didn’t do this or that,
won’t negate the fact or bring
Kandace back

Three months have gone by and
denial is my comfort,
it all is too overwhelming and the
thought only intensifies my hurt

This void has settled at the pit of
my soul and heart,
and yet I wait and wonder for
the healing to start

I saw her,
we buried her,
my MIND knows that she’s gone,
but how is my heart suppose to move on.

You are reading my mind. Kandace loves all of us and she is probably missing just as much. We all love her and she is in our hearts. Love ya Sis

Your poem is excellent...I've published poetry and this poem is exceptionally well written. It is full of feeling and regret, things that make poetry so special... I feel your loss, by the words you've written.

The conflict between the hear and mind... makes for the perfect poem. Sorry for your loss.
