Dead at ninety nine,
The high street name.
50% Sale sign,
Everything goes today!
The tacky sweets,
All must go!
Cushions for seats,
Last chance, you know!
No more CDs,
They ain't coming in.
Paper, pens, diaries,
In the bargain bin.
No more jobs,
Staff must go!
Find recruitment ads,
Sign up for dole.
No more story,
It ends this winter day!
Just short of century,
It dies away.

Rosalind,
A wonder write about our troubled times. However, that's just one chain, five chains in our city have gone under, the latest, Circuit City. They all went out right after Christmas. Unfortunately your poem could apply to them all. Wonder if this economy will ever be well again.
