She's gone...(from the Home Edition, 12/13/10)

I'm not that girl

you know--
the one who
waited with brilliant expectation
amid the fragrant nightbloomers
for the undeniable footfall of your
soon approach

the listener
transfixed by the vibrant music
issuing forth from the urgent invitation
of your glistening lips

the golden one who laughed
brightened by your silvery seduction
yearning to be summoned by your touch
to rise into the night's allure
and fill the sky with legendary song
of the phoenix, reborn

nay
now ruined by your absence
I lay lost
buried among the embers
darkening
shedding their warmth like dying stars
in a wind-blown pile of the dust of corpses
unstirred, abandoned
and alone

Oh, to be the one ... palpable emotion that stirs the soul. Touches this heart. Beautifully written! ~Hugs, Elizabeth

this is like observing the metamorphosis of a beautiful nightflower somehow... that straining towards love and maturity through painful love and neglect.. the eventual blooming "alone" and unobserved. Beautiful, emotion-laden writing, Rafika. The images are lovely. May you and yours be blessed this Christmastime; have a very safe and happy holiday. xx

Very nice, Rafika. Excellent mechanics and structure: just the right 'write'. The sentiment is not lost on me, either, as the image of frozen planetary peripheries swarm into my mind, attended by images of a dying star...frozen star-dust, now turned to scattered icy crystals on a dessicated cosmic sarcophagus. Um.
Aloha mai e, Kalikiano

Is it possible to recover from loss? A right question to ask, Rafika, but a difficult one to answer and we have to surmise it depends on individual circumstance and personal character.
This takes me into a world I think and feel I understand, I may be wrong, but wrong or right, this work strikes a deep chord.
