Broken Petal
by: Paul B Essery
Lying here, listening to the breath of my heartbeat
Pondering moments of minutes passed
Like grains of sand through a cloudy hourglass
Reflections of life's lessons, tame the turbulent waters of my mind
A garden of gifts surround the heart of man
The struggle to breathe, the struggle to stand
Earth's bounty, emancipation of human spirit
The blessings of each complete the whole
Yet as I am broken, I am breathing the light
Defects become virtues, distorted masterpieces; works of art
A fragrance of beauty from brokenness
A broken spoke makes a wheel still turn
A broken word, the heart will burn
The broken petal the same the garden will be
For the awareness of all, the senses to see
