The Sugar You Gave Me

I don’t follow the trend
or the ways of men.
I blaze my own trail
not intentionally to offend.

I am my own man
Strong; I don’t swing or sway.
Unless there can be found
an explaination or some better way.

You can not give me life,
you can’t give me love;
So how dare you tell me
that I didn’t find it!

Life gives me lemons?
So make lemonade ...
But you would have me sweeten it
with your “sugar cubes”
of philosophy.

No thanks, for all I know
I may find out later after I’m lost

That … You were not what I thought

And … the sugar you gave me

was really salt.
